ABOUT CASSIE
Cassie Cao is a Canadian Comedy Award winning comedian, writer, and actor based in Toronto, originally from Ottawa. Cassie was a "New Face of Comedy" at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival and now regularly tours festivals and theatres across the country. Her standup can be seen as the very first episode of CBC Gem's The New Wave of Standup, on Crave's The Jon Dore show, and on the first three seasons of CTV’s Roast Battle Canada.
Cassie is a highly sought after television writer, having written for Kim's Convenience (Netflix), Detention Adventure (HBO Max), True Dating Stories (CBC Gem) and served as the monologue writer for the Giller Prize Show’s hosts, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Rupi Kaur. She has also written for the stage for The Second City and The Blue Man Group. As an actor, Cassie can be seen in numerous television shows including Kids in the Hall, The Boys, What We Do in the Shadows, and had a recurring part on Children Ruin Everything. She is also a regular culture commentator on CBC's Commotion with Elamin Abdelmahmoud.
Cassie was formerly an economist with a Master’s degree in behavioural economics from McMaster University. She has years of experience telling jokes about the interest rate to prominent Canadian policy makers.
